New Morph Raster Tool for Cartology, Brings Benefits for Displaying Pre-build Information

15 December 2008

The latest release (V4.3.9) of Innogistic’s powerful Cartology GIS software includes a new Morph Raster tool which allows raster CAD plan images to be positioned precisely within the main image. This new tool is particular groundbreaking as it allows the image to be clipped to any irregular shape and then geo-positioned on a transparent layer. This can allow the combination or precise merging of detailed CAD planning information within large scale mapping.

Dr Kieron Brown, Innogistic’s Production Director said “We are very happy with the development of this new tool. It offers significant benefits for our customers and could be particularly useful within GIS applications that need to show proposed sites or pre-build information. These could include users such as Developers, Housing Associations and Local Authority Planning Departments”

Paul Shapley of Neath Port Talbot Borough Council was one of the first recipients of the new version of Cartology DSI. He said ”The Morph Raster Tool has allowed us to position our plans quickly and accurately on Mastermap and takes away the guess work when capturing data for our BS7666 LLPG”.

The new Morph Raster tool allows the user to move, rotate, skew and “rubber sheet” the image, and then clip it to an irregular shape such as the pre-build boundary so that it precisely fits to the specific geo-reference points over a base map or photogrammetric image. This makes it a particularly powerful tool for showing CAD plans of proposed developments and how they fit into the surrounding environment.
