Mobile GIS at Central Networks gets interoperable

07 February 2007

Electricity supplier, Central Networks, have adopted a new data interface for MIDAS, their Mobile GIS Software supplied by Innogistic. The new data interface will enable MIDAS to operate seamlessly with two back office GIS systems.

The mobile solution which was originally developed for Midlands Electricity already interfaces with data in an Intergraph FRAMME system.

Following the merger with East Midland Electricity, and subsequent name change to Central Networks, the company now use two back office GIS systems from Intergraph and Smallworld.

Paul Fleeman of Central Networks explains further:

"Our Mobile GIS Solution, MIDAS, is already used by over 500 field engineers. Key to expanding its usage further, is interoperability with both our central GIS systems. Innogistic have come up with an innovative solution, which makes this a reality".
