Innogistic Delivers Maps@Mouchel

Mouchel the consulting and business services group have taken delivery of the first phase of an innovative new web portal developed by Innogistic, known as Maps@Mouchel. The portal is designed to centralise the storage, management and distribution of mapping and GIS data at Mouchel, where it is used on a wide number of engineering projects run from Mouchel’s 120 UK offices.

As Mark Hurley, Mouchel’s Business Unit Director explains:

“It is essential that mapping data used on our projects is both accurate and up to date. Until now, this has been managed on a project by project basis, making the process of auditing what is used and ensuring that licensing arrangements are appropriately honoured, a complex and time consuming task. Maps@Mouchel will centralise and automate the distribution and licensing of this data within the organisation“.

The content of the portal includes national coverage of a comprehensive range of Ordnance Survey Mapping data, including OS MasterMap (Topographic, ITN and Code Point) and raster background mapping, along with Mouchel’s own asset information. Users of the portal are able to browse freely around the map base, or search for specific locations / features, and then download detailed data in a range of common image, GIS and CAD formats for use on an individual project. An automated licensing mechanism, currently under development, will be delivered as a subsequent phase to the project.

Speaking of Innogistic’s work on the project, Mark Hurley adds:
