New software from Innogistic avoids Ordnance Survey dual running costs
07 December 2006
Users of Ordnance Survey's LandLine product face increasing dual running costs, if they fail to migrate to OS MasterMap data.
Whilst most GIS suppliers have added support to OS MasterMap, many local authorities face the prospect of dual running costs because other legacy business systems are still dependant on LandLine.
Innogistic have therefore developed an OS MasterMap to NTF converter, which allows Ordnance Survey customers, to convert OS MasterMap data in GML format into LandLine style NTF for support of legacy systems.
Dr Kieron Brown, Software Director at Innogistic explains further:
"Innogistic's FasterMap solution provides a web service interface which allows customers to serve up OS MasterMap to GIS solutions which support OGC web mapping standards. Whilst this addresses the majority of issues, there are still some legacy business applications out there, without support for OS MasterMap or OGC standards. As a result many authorities continue to incur these dual running costs"
Brown continues:
"The OS MasterMap to NTF converter, is intended to be a pragmatic solution to this problem. Innogistic are fully behind OS MasterMap and the concepts of the Digital National Framework (DNF). Our OS MasterMap to NTF converter, is just a practical solution to ease the transition."
