25% of English Fire Services implement mobile fire safety system
23 February 2007
Over a quarter of English Fire and Rescue Services, 12 in total, are implementing a mobile fire safety system, which is set to deliver significant efficiency gains in both Technical and Community Fire Safety work.
The solution from Innogistic Software, known as CFRMIS Mobile, cuts out the need for paper forms and the administrative overheads associated with data re-entry. Using the system, fire safety officers are able to download scheduled jobs, such as Home Fire Safety Checks or Fire Safety Audits to an electronic device, such as a Tablet PC or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), and complete them offline. On completing the job, along with recording time spent and specifying any follow up action, all data on the electronic device is synchronised over the air (using 3G or GPRS), with a centralised fire safety database.
Andrew Carter, Business Manager at Innogistic, comments on the system:
“CFRMIS Mobile has the potential to deliver significant efficiency gains, allowing Fire and Rescue Services to focus their efforts on preventative work rather than administration. Helping FRS’s target their existing resources more effectively is the key issue here. We have been extremely encouraged by feedback so far”.
The twelve fire and rescue services who have placed orders for CFRMIS Mobile are Cheshire, Durham & Darlington, Greater Manchester County, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, Northumberland, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Tyne and Wear and Wiltshire.
